And The Winners Are...

Name Your Favorite Color Contest Winners!

As winter began to warm up, so did the competition in Madeira's first Name Your Favorite Color Contest. Our criteria were: creativity; how the name fit with the color; how the color "kit" came together; originality. Of the 200 entries, we've chosen 10 winners in each category of: Classic Rayon #40 and Polyneon #40. Each winner will receive $100 worth of thread, a winning kit (Rayon or Polyneon, depending on which category they entered), publicity on our Blog MadeiraMatters, and a certificate for their office. We will follow up with a behind-the-scenes look at our winners individually. But for now, here are the winners, color name and corresponding Madeira color number, and home city and state. We hope after we contact each winner, they will share a little about themselves, their company and their color name!

Successful Seminar in Long Beach

Just returned from the ISS in Long Beach.  Pat Williams and I taught three digitizing seminars.  They were all fun and we had up to 30 people in each class.  The one that was most interesting was "What to do when your design goes wrong."  The most common problem embroiderers face is puckering.  Tatami fill areas are usually the culprit.  Correcting this can be as simple as lightening the top stitch density (4.0 is good).  Also use two passes of a cross hatch tatami underlay - first pass at 45 degree angle to top fill stitch direction and second pass at 135 degree, density of 30.  Keep the top stitch direction as horizontal as possible.  Sew design from bottom up and center out when possible.  This formula works particularly well on knits and will help reduce puckering.

Color Contest Ends Soon!

Have you heard about Madeira's Name Your Favorite Color Contest?  It's your chance to put words to your favorite color!  No, names will not replace the universal color numbers that Madeira uses now.  But just for fun, we thought we would create a couple of spool kits -- Classic Rayon #40 and Polyneon #40 -- using the names you come up with for your favorite colors.

Click here for more info and for entry form...but hurry, the deadline for entries is February 13 And, you receive a free Thank You Pack just for entering.  Winners and the winning kit will be announced -- and promoted -- here on February 28!

It's Show Time Folks!

The ISS Long Beach show in January was the first show of the year for Madeira USA.  We'll do many more: ISS shows, NNEP shows, ASI shows, Stitches road shows...we're all over the place!  And just so you know what to look for, here is a picture of the Madeira booth before the doors opened and the crowds charged in at Long Beach.

At Long Beach ISS, Madeira took a second booth in order to demonstrate its AFS (Automated Frame System).  It is a machine attachment that can turn even a single head machine into a blazing badge and emblem maker!  An automatic feed enables the machine to produce countless emblems on a paper-framed film.  No need to trim by hand, the badges simply "pop" out of the plastic film.  Want to know more?  Click here

Please look for us in your hometown.  We'll look like this at the bigger shows.  You can find the exact show dates and location at www.madeirausa.com.  If you are a new customer in the area, we'll be sure to send an email reminder, along with a link to register for the show free (usually).  And don't miss us.  You'll find out about new products and walk away with a new catalog and a free sample of something...bobbins, specialty thread...see you soon!
